She's about 11 1/2 pounds. That's not official. That's me getting on the scale without her, and then with her. The difference is roughly 11.5 pounds. My back can kind of tell that the pounds are coming on. Sore back and all . . . I still hold this pretty girl as often as possible. It's SO worth it!
What's Evie up to now?
- Well, she smiles A LOT! She is particularly smiley in the morning.
- She sleeps anywhere from 7 to 10 hours at once. We try to get her a total of at least 12 hours a night, but her first nighty-night sleep is 7-10 hours. That explains the smiles from a very happy baby. And, I cannot lie when I say her parents are pretty happy too. (Although those feedings at 2am or 3am will always be cherished!)
- After she wakes up from sleeping she stretches like crazy. I need to get a good picture of her stretching, because it is SO cute.
- She's consistently eating 3 full ounces at most feedings now. (Sometimes a little less and sometimes a little more.)
- She has a little bit of a blocked tear duct in her right eye.
- She loves it when we sing to her. I love to sing children's songs to her. Beau sings country songs, usually those sung by Don Williams.
- She LOVES her bath time. I think she would stay in there for hours if we would let her. Instead, we just let her stay until we start to see the feet crinkle up like raisins.
- She's found her tongue and loves to play with it in her mouth.
- She's a kicker! After she's fed and happy, she loves to just lay down and kick those feet.
- She's not a big fan of the binkie. She'll take it once in a while, but it's hit-or miss with her.
- Her eyes seem to be coming in blue. They are so pretty!
- She coos a lot. It's fun to just sit and talk with her. She seems to have plenty to say already.
- She hates to be left alone. We'll lay her out to kick (like she likes to do) and she'll watch our every move. If we leave the room (even for 2 seconds), she squawks. I hope she ALWAYS wants to be near to us.
- When she's awake, she is so alert. She is soaking in everything around her. She listens closely to new sounds and we can tell she's trying to figure out what the sound is. She also looks around at everything. She just started following the movement of mobiles and other things.
- She LOVES to be outside. I sit on the porch and sing to her if she's fussy. Beau walks her around the yard while he waters plants and does other light yard work. She loves going on walks and runs. She also has loved being at the pool . . . although I think she mostly likes the idea of being outside more than she likes being in the pool.
- She likes to fall asleep in our arms still and her favorite position is to be cradled in one arm with her head cocked back over the arm. She's always liked her head back like that.
- She still sleeps in her bassinet that is in our room, but she is almost too big/long for it. She'll probably graduate to her crib shortly.
- She still does not spit up. This girl has the best digestive track I've ever seen on a baby. She eats well, keeps it all down, and usually burps well (although sometimes she doesn't burp after a feeding and is still fine). People told me that I couldn't have enough onsies because babies are always spitting up or pooping on them, but not this girl. She can go 2 or 3 days in the same outfit without any problems (although that rarely happens because I love to pick out outfits for her to wear). So, I guess I can have enough onsies.
- She loves to get her diaper changed. Nothing feels better than a clean bum and a dry diaper!
- She is still sweet as can be! That's just how she came!

Today I said to her, "Do you know you are so beautiful?" She smiled big and let out the cutest little coo I've ever heard. I think she really might know (after all . . . Beau and I tell her EVERY day).
